Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy treats chronic conditions by delivering penetrating shockwaves deep into soft tissue, inducing microtrauma and triggering a new inflammatory response. This prompts the body's natural healing mechanisms. The emitted energy also stimulates cells to release biochemicals, enhancing healing and fostering the formation of new blood vessels in the treated area.

While Shockwave can outperform formal PT for certain conditions and patient goals—especially when time and cost are priorities—it can also be combined with targeted exercises and education to maximize long-term outcomes when needed.

How It Works

  • Shockwave therapy uses high-energy sound pulses to treat painful bone, tendon, and soft tissue problems that are subacute to chronic. The pulses are a sudden, strong pressure wave created when compressed air drives a projectile in the device. The impact transmits mechanical energy into the tissue, which triggers healing, lowers pain, and improves function

  • Treatment times are about 5-10 minutes! The amount of sessions needed is determined by your specific condition and needs.

No need to go to a special facility, or clear your whole day for one appointment, get treated on a lunch break or during a short appointment window!

  • Patients have felt results after the first treatment, with ongoing positive changes until treatment is complete!

Typically, 3 - 5 treatments which are done 3–10 days apart. Depending on the patient’s tolerance and their tissue response, as well as what their specific needs are.

Common Treatable Conditions

Shockwave therapy can effectively help naturally treat chronic musculoskeletal pain, range of motion, and muscle tightness. Shockwave focuses energy on the pathological tissue (tendons, plantar fascia, calcific deposits), promoting circulation, breaking down scar tissue and calcifications, and accelerating tissue regeneration. Studies show faster functional improvement compared with conservative care alone. Shockwave is beneficial for:

  • Frozen Shoulder

  • Tennis/Golfers Elbow

  • Carpel Tunnel Syndrome

  • Trigger Finger

  • Plantar Fasciitis

  • De Quervain’s Disease

  • Chronic Joint Pain

  • Chronic Osteoarthritis

  • Neuropathy

  • Reduced Blood Flow

  • Sciatica

    and many more!
